Angel:
Who are your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your style?
Paul:
My biggest influences growing up were Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen and George Lynch. I knew right from the beginning that was something I wanted to do. I have been lucky enough to meet George, he built me a guitar and did a song on our new album.
Angel:
What?s something you listen to that might surprise people, given the music you make?
Paul:
I love all types of music. There's really only a handful of genres I don?t like. I?m very influenced by the blues. My father was a marching drummer my whole life.
Angel:
What?s a non-musical skill, hobby, or obsession in the band that has secretly shaped your music?
Paul:
I was a semi-pro boxer growing up. I also played baseball and football. I travel constantly and love diving/snorkeling
Angel:
What is the biggest change in the music industry (Good and/or Bad) over the past 20 years?
Paul:
The biggest change for me how the industry - is it's impossible to make money creating and selling your own music outside of touring (that not everyone can do). It's turned many original musicians into cover musicians just so they can support themselves.
Angel:
What advice do you have for the next generation of musicians?
Paul:
If at all possible remember your love of music first. So many lose sight of the pure joy they once found in simply playing music.
It becomes a job. Lastly the only person you should ever be in competition with is the person in the mirror.
Angel:
What are your favorite venue(s) to play?
Paul:
I love playing outdoor shows
It?s always the best!! but obviously my drummer Stet Howland owns Stet?s bar and that will always be the best to play at. If you don?t know Stet he was in WASP for 16 years, Metal Church for 7 years
One of the nicest guys u will ever meet!
Angel:
What platforms can fans follow you on?
Paul:
We are on all streaming outlets like Spotify, Apple Music etc.!! Stay tuned cause we have a new album coming soon!!
Angel:
How would you describe As Darkness Dies as coffee?
Paul:
A very complex robust dark brew full of body and character.. with a shot of whiskey in it![]()
